About Kate

Kate sees adolescents 13+ and adults.

Kate is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Psychotherapist. She has worked in varied mental health settings over the past 18 years across the NGO and Government sectors working with Asylum Seekers and Refugees, women’s health, drug and alcohol addictions, domestic and family violence and School counselling. She has more than 10 years’ experience providing individual therapy as well as group work to children, adolescents, and adults as well as in providing training and clinical supervision to health professionals.

The driving force behind Kate’s therapeutic practice is her belief and passion for inclusivity, diversity, social justice and in the delivery of evidence based, trauma informed care.

Kate has extensive experience working in areas of torture and trauma survivors, PTSD, abuse, trauma and complex trauma. Additionally, she has extensive experience in working with a wide range of mental health difficulties and concerns including personality disorders, anxiety, stress, life transition, depression, emotional dysregulation, low self-esteem, racism and discrimination and interpersonal difficulties. She has an interest in whole self-wellness and recovery, recognising the impact trauma and poor mental health can have on an individual’s physical self and sense of self.

Kate believes in every individual’s ability to heal from trauma and pain, gain new insight and develop new skills and ways of living. The focus is on an individual having the capacity to utilise their own strengths to move forward on their path to wellness. Kate takes a warm, empathic, and non-judgemental stance with everyone she sees, applying a collaborative approach to ensure the therapy is tailored to individual needs and goals. No one person is the same!

She draws on modalities such as Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness and Relaxation.
