About Gillian

Gillian has worked in the field of psychology for close to 20 years, and has been registered as a Psychologist since 2006. She joined Northside Psychology in 2015 after taking some time out of work to stay with her then young children.

She has been working with Positive Psychological approaches since early in her training, and loves to bring Positive Psychology to her work with clients. Using evidence-based practices, she helps clients enhance well-being and resilience.

Gillian works with adults of all ages who are experiencing anxiety, depression and mood disorders, grief and loss, with relationship issues and in tackling life transitions and illness. She can also help people needing support to manage stress, parenting, and to develop confidence and self-esteem.

Whatever treatment plan is tailored, she firmly believes that it is within a supportive relationship that people find the clarity, courage and the path to pursue their values and a more fulfilling life. Her job as a Psychologist is to be a collaborator and supporter, to assist you to make sense of yourself, and the things happening in life, and help create a space in which you can develop the meanings and alternative approaches you need to flourish in life. Her approach is holistic, centred on your needs.

In the past Gillian has worked in crisis and women’s health settings, developing and presenting workplace training to support self-care and client relationships in various services. She has worked in collaborative recovery with people experiencing mental illness, and has worked closely with people to understand their experiences of using mental health services in NSW and to support their perspective being an influence on service change and policy development. Her experiences have all involved working to support people’s empowerment and build on strengths to affect changes – either in their own lives, or in the services they work within or use.
