“Only in the darkness can you see the stars” – Martin Luther King Jr

It is in the challenging times where we find our strengths and add meaning to our story. Over Alison’s professional career to date, she has had the profound privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, each of whom had the courage to create meaning from challenge.

Her background as an early childhood teacher allowed her to develop an understanding of the complexity and unique nature of family systems and their impact on individual capacities. Her passion for psychology grew largely from the recognition that ones’ strengths and vulnerabilities are enhanced or limited by experiences and interactions and our ability to navigate through them. As a result, Alison’s therapeutic approach aligns very strongly with a Cognitive Behavioural technique, interwoven with Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and other evidence-based treatments.

Having worked as a volunteer with Lifeline, a Counsellor with Red Nose, a rehabilitation Counsellor and most recently as a high school Counsellor, she has experience with all age groups and a variety of presenting concerns.
