About Emma
Please note Emma is a Provisional Psychologist and sessions with her do not attract Medicare or Private Health Fund rebates.
Emma is completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the Australian National University, and is currently completing her clinical placement at Northside Psychology. Emma has a strong interest in student wellbeing, and her PhD focuses on ways of improving student health outcomes through school identification and group memberships.
Emma’s passion for assisting others reach their goals was developed when working as a music teacher and then support worker during her undergraduate degree. In these roles, Emma learnt the importance of tailoring lessons to the individual, focusing on client strengths, and celebrating all client achievements. Emma continues to apply this strengths-based approach to her work as a Provisional Psychologist.
Emma has experience working with adults experiencing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and life transitions. Emma also has experience working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and major life transitions. Emma has also facilitated a number of group programs.
How Emma might support you
Emma recognises that each person is unique, with individual strengths that can be utilised in session. Accordingly, Emma takes a person-centred approach to tailor therapy to the needs of the individual. Emma works with adults, children and families, with on focus on addressing client-set goals.
Emma works primarily with the Cognitive Behavioural approach, specifically using the Unified Protocol of Transdiagnostic Disorders. Emma also incorporates strategies from other evidence-based approaches as needed, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness, to best meet the needs of the client. Above all, Emma is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment for individuals to foster positive change.
